I love writing for choir because its sound is magical. The clashes and clusters that will never work on instruments sound so harmonious and blended with human voices. Still, it requires tremendous effort and experience to master choral writing. The world has changed so much that it seems like we have lost the patience to appreciate Bach’s motets. And it was the first time I listen to Macmillan’s Tenebrae Responsories. simply inspirational.
